Red light therapy or otherwise called RLT utilizes light emitting diodes, known as LED to heal or alleviate  conditions from acne to slow healing open wounds. People with some skin disorders undergo light therapy using UV rays to treat the affected skin surface. Red light therapy does not emit UV rays.

In a hospital setting, when the red light therapy process will have the patient take certain medication, then this sometimes, is called photodynamic therapy.

Sometime in the years 1995 towards 1998, the Marshall Space Flight Center MSFC, challenged QDI in a rigorous analytic study of red light for its role in the world of medicine. They were seeking answers at that time if the red light will have any positive or some healing effects on humans similarly what light does to plants. The focus of their studies, was to conclude that wounds and some other disorders will be healed or alleviated when red light is used or included in the treatment.

Since then, funding in the form of grants, has been periodically injected to the on going feasibility studies especially that the results are conclusive with more potential in the future to gain more health benefits from the medical use of red light therapy.



Today, red light therapy is used in the successful treatments of the following disorders or medical conditions: acne, age spots, cancer and damages caused by sun exposure.

Red light therapy or RLT is used to activate certain drugs to combat cancerous cells or maximize the healing effects. This type of therapy has been particularly helpful for treating esophageal cancer, lung cancer, and skin diseases like actinic keratosis.

Red light therapy is used for treating the the outer layer of skin called epidermis.

When the infrared or red light is focused to your skin, the epidermis function in the healing process, is that it will absorb the red light where it will cause simulation plus enhancement of the collagen proteins.  Also the boosted circulation results in bringing in more oxygen plus increased nutrients to your cells and tissues.

In studies and theories, the more or abundant collagen you have will mean that a much smoother, vibrant and younger looking  skin. In turn, reduce the visible fine lines and wrinkles in its surface appearance.

The face is the most vulnerable part of our outer physical body because it is always exposed in the environment where you are physically located.  Whether at home, or in the streets or in beaches and even in fully enclosed offices, our faces are usually not covered and clearly exposed to the elements, natural or not.  Unlike your chest, legs, buttocks or any other parts of your body which are protected with a layer of linen, clothing, underwear and so on, the face is almost always and naturally bare.
